Back to the shelves

Privacy, plainly

Last updated 18 October 2026

The short version: we keep your email so you can sign in, and the books you put on your shelves. No ads, no cookies for tracking, no outside analytics companies, no newsletters. We count visits ourselves, without anything that identifies you. You can delete your library yourself at any time.

Who runs Stealskills

Stealskills is run by Simon Saxtorph, a solo developer in Denmark. He is responsible for your data. Write to hello@stealskills.com about anything on this page.

Visits: a random code for that one visit, the page you are on, the website that linked you here (just its name, like x.com), and whether you use a phone or a computerTo see how many people visit and where they come fromOnly us, and only as totals

Visits and book opens are counted with a random code that exists only for that one visit. It is never stored in your browser, we never record your IP address, and we cannot tie it to you. While the page is open it checks in every 30 seconds, which is how we can see how many people are on the site right now.

We handle your data because you asked us to run a library for you (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). Reports and visit counts are handled under our legitimate interest in keeping the site free of spam and understanding how many people use it (article 6(1)(f)).

What lives in your browser

If you sign in, your browser keeps your login session in local storage so you stay signed in. That is needed for the site to work, so we don’t ask for consent. We set no other cookies and use no tracking scripts. Fonts and code load from stealskills.com itself.

Where your data is kept

We don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Delete my library in your account menu removes your profile, every book on your shelves, your saves, your favorites and your follows straight away. Profile photos you replace or remove are deleted from storage when you save. Your sign-in email stays in our sign-in system until you ask us to remove it; write to hello@stealskills.com and we will do it within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, get a copy, delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@stealskills.com. If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.dk.
